At the Masmak Fortress, in Riyadh—the scene of a critical battle for Abdul Aziz ibn Saud—the guide soon lost interest in leading us among displays labeled “Some Old Guns” and “Cover for the Udder of the She-Camel” and began to wax nostalgic about a married woman named Liz in Grand Rapids.
